I'm losing my hair, what should I do?

It is vital to take the advice of a medical professional. We would like to warn you about the risks of consultation by non-physicians.

We offer you a traditional consultation at our premises or via the online questionnaire (with photos sent in accordance with the protocol). One of the doctors in our team will reply as soon as possible (within 24 to 48 hours).

What is a hair transplant?

A hair transplant is an operation to correct hair loss. Hair is removed from the back and sides of the skull and then re-implanted into balding or balding areas.

What is FUT?

This is known as Follicular Unit Transplantation or FUSS (Follicular Unit by Strip Surgery). This is a hair harvesting technique, where the grafts (or follicular units) are extracted with a strip of scalp.

What is FUE?

This is known as Follicular Unit Extraction. It is a hair removal technique, where the grafts are extracted one by one.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for a hair transplant?

The opinion and clinical examination by a doctor is essential. The doctor will be able to suggest an optimal treatment plan based on a wide range of data.

Feel free to consult the section: Good candidate

How many hairs do I need?

A hair transplant can range from a few dozen to several thousand grafts, depending on the clinical indication. This treatment can be carried out over several days if necessary.

Will I have a scar?

Yes, but not of the same nature. It all depends on the technique used.
Hair implantology involves taking hair from one place and implanting it elsewhere. Fortunately, these marks are now sub-millimetre, thanks to the use of high-performance microsurgical implantation equipment (FUE). In FUT, the scar is often more extensive, but hardly visible thanks to the trichophytic suture technique.

How long does a procedure take?

On average, it takes between 3 and 8 hours depending on the type of procedure.

Is hair transplantation painful?

No.

Under local anaesthetic, the patient does not feel the removals and incisions. The doctor can immediately adjust any sensation of discomfort and so the patient maintains permanent control over the pain.In the post-operative period, there is very little pain. If necessary, the patient is given painkillers.

Is there a risk of rejection?

No. This is an autograft.
Hair transplants are impossible with one-third hair, similarly artificial hair is strongly contraindicated.

Do I need a short break after the hair transplant?

Yes, but it all depends on the procedure performed. In FUT, 10 to 15 days are required, whereas in FUE, patients take at least 2 to 3 days post-operative rest.

What are the steps following the hair transplant?

The patient follows the protocol provided by the clinic (simple local care over 10 to 14 days in the treated areas). The scabs fall off quickly, and then often the stem of the implanted hair also falls off (shedding). The grafted hair begins to emerge after 3 months and then gradually thickens. A clinical assessment should be scheduled for the 5th and 12th post-operative months.
We are always available for any information at each stage of the process.

What is shock loss?

In some transplant patients, hair from the donor and/or recipient areas may fall out around the incisions made. This phenomenon is transitory and has no impact on the final result.

How much time is needed between two operations?

Surgeries can be performed at several points in time. A variable time period of around 6 to 24 months must be respected, depending on the patient.

Are there any medications to be avoided before the procedure?

Yes. Discuss these with the doctor during the consultation.

What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

PRP is one of the medical treatments designed to stimulate hair and induce hair regrowth.
The plasma obtained after a blood sample is taken from the patient, contains numerous growth factors that enable capillary stimulation.

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a superficial scalp injection that directly supplies the follicles with the micronutrients and antioxidants needed to induce hair regrowth and stimulation.

What is LLLT photobiomodulation?

This cell induction technique (specific low-energy light) is used alone or in addition to injections (mesotherapy, PRP). It makes hair thicker and denser, and enhances the results obtained by injections.

How to support hair transplantation?

Medications are often essential to support the transplant: finasteride in particular.

Can we leave immediately after the operation?

No. For safety reasons, we require a third party to accompany you and approximately one hour's notice before returning home.

Is there a right time to get a transplant?

No.
Grafts are performed throughout the year.
It is imperative to follow the post-operative instructions carefully.
